GAS GAS: Please Share your Latest Acquisitions Big and Small

I don't know if anyone has ordered direct from Panasonic before, but they use a company called Encompass, and they've already shipped the lens hood. I didn't expect it to be that fast, especially since I picked the cheapest option, and on a Sunday.
Not the same for OM systems unfortunately. The lens I ordered last week hasn’t left, and the order is still “processing”.

Mapcamera is the Jimmy Johns of Camera retailers. It's amazing how quickly something can get here from literally the other side of the hemisphere. To give you an idea, something I ordered from KEH in Georgia on the same day got here maybe 4 hours sooner today. I know there's an international date line and all, but sheesh.

Anyway, here's an indication of just how small the PL9mm 1.7 is, sitting next to the tiny 9-18. The crazy thing is, I think Panasonic could have probably made this in an even smaller diameter barrel, but they don't really go much smaller for most of their lenses. It's a light lens too. Should make for an easy travel companion.

Congratulations on your 9/1.7. I replaced my 9-18 with an 8-18. And now I've replaced the 8-18 with the 9/1.7. (I kept the 8-18 for local superwide photography.)
I wanted the small size again but also better and more reliable performance. I've traveled with it twice so far and it's been perfect for me.

Just bought a very, very cool photo book by Nathan Pearce, a photographer who works and lives in rural southern Illinois, in the United States.

It's a beautifully printed and bound book.
And I find his photos... pretty remarkable.
The layout of the book is rather lovely, as well. Here is the first page--

The PL 9 is great lens and I got one recently.
For me 9mm is the goldilocks length for WAs.....it's wide but not silly wide.
I was looking at the Laowa 6mm [sun-stars at f/4, yeaah!!] but that length really needs some serious concentration when composing a shot. And I couldn't be bothered with the [minimal] manual focusing required.
And if I still had that 9-18mm it would be on the market in a flash! :giggle:

Yeah, I did move it due to redundancy. I really only had it due to its small size for an UWA. While the rest of its range might be a bit useful, I'm always buying UWA's for the low number. Considering they are pretty much the same size (and price) and neither weigh much, it's not a hard decision for me to chose the prime. I'm actually slowly migrating away from zooms. There are so many nice, fast, small primes on M43. The only thing most of them lack is weather sealing. Imagine if OMD mark-twoed the 1.8 line and just added weather sealing. I know they want us to buy their pro lenses, but know your audience! They could keep the same optics and probably bump the prices up and do alright.

Found a deal I could not pass up! Like new condition Panasonic GX85 with a P 20mm f/1.7. You may ask yourself, why would I get a Panasonic camera when they are not my favorite m43 and it's age? I always thought that if I did get a Panasonic m43 camera it would have been a GX7. I looked at it at the same time I was looking at the PEN-F...that rangefinder styled camera has always appealed to me. Why this at this time? Honestly, I like having a small, coat-pocketable camera for those rare occasions where I want to go super small light. As much as I love the GR III, the lack of an actual viewfinder and the poor battery life just did not have me bond with it like I really wanted. Should be here beginning of next week.

Still one of my favourite small cameras of all time; even though my current GX9 ought to be technically superior, I'm not getting quite the same kind of fun out of it that I had with the GX85. The lens is a classic by now, too. Enjoy!

Yep, had the 20/1.7 in the past and really liked it a lot on the PEN-F. Want the convenience of a smaller with me all the time camera but not at the Fuji/Ricoh prices. I may even entertain getting the P12-32 again. and I might see about adapted size of the M mount lenses on the GX85 - as the Leica 90mm f/4 would be a good field of view on the m43 sensor.

This is a contemporary camera as far as I am concerned. The quality is top notch, the design very rationalistic, performance borders on epic. Not to mention this is compact enough to slip in a winter jacket's pocket, with a appropriate lens. Really loving mine!

Awesome, I wish you all the fun and happy snapping with it. My favourite was and will always be Panasonic GX-7. The size is the perfect compromise between controls, ergonomics and quality. I do miss that wonderful handgrip, I used to balance the entire camera with Sigma 60mm f 2.8 or 19mm f 2.8 with just one finger on the grip.
I would love to re-buy it for similar reasons as yours, jacket or cargo pockets. My only wish is if it had weather sealing for this UK weather ... It was the original reason why I got into Olympus 6 years ago.

My only issue is that I didn't get along well with Panasonic interfaces/viewfinder layouts in the past. I'll admit that my experience was limited to intermittent use of the GH4 and G9. Based on what I can tell from others, the Panasonics are highly customizable and I'm thinking I can set it up to how I want. I'm excited to try it out, but if it doesn't gel well with me, I cna probably sell/trade it for what I just bought it.

Have you ever considered the X-T20/30 line? They are incredibly small as well, with an EVF. Hard to believe, but the X-T30 is smaller and lighter than an OM5. Either way, the GX85 was my first M43 camera. Fantastic little workhorse with great output. Consider the 12-32 pancake too. Very solid little lens.

I did consider it, but the deal I got on the GX85 and the 20mm was less than half of what the XT20 body alone goes for used here.

I was always partial to the XE3 bodies, with the 27/2.8 - that is a nice little combo. Again, those prices are a little more than I would want to spend on this cameras intended purpose.

Yeah, Fujis have the remarkable ability to hold their value better than most camera brands it seems. Doesn’t help that the X-T30ii is in short supply and has yet to see a proper follow up.
