The Z30 gave me an excuse to finally get the Z18-140 lens.

Have to say that compared to the f-mount version, I find this one faster to focus and noticeably sharper. Will be a good walk about lens and a good DX “do it all”.
The Z 18-140mm is my favourite superzoom lens to date - optically, it's just as good (though with different sweet spots) as its Z 24-200mm stable mate which itself is no slouch (except for excessive fringing in the corners at 24mm). Its compactness and low weight make it a great walkaround lens; it's also my most used travel lens. Apart from the plastic mount (and thus, limited weather resistance) all Z DX lenses to date have, there's nothing to complain about. The fact that I already reach for this lens over the Z 24-200mm was one of the aspects stopping me from getting the Z 28-400mm (I came very close this past weekend): I clearly prefer the compact solution already - a bigger superzoom won't change that in spite of the additional reach, especially if the smaller lens is such a pleasure to shoot.

Have fun!

So far this year, I have traded a few bits n bobs and got:
Canon 5D MkIV replaced Canon 1Dx, as it's smaller lighter and more pixals.
Fuji XT5 (new for a change as Fuji discounted them to less than a used body) trade a couple of things including an XT1.
Fuji GFX 100s and GF 35-70, no idea why just fancied one.

Sigh, really should try and use all these things, which I will over the next few months.

My thoughts at the moment are to see if this can best/match optically the mighty Olympus 12-100/4. If so I might sell that lens and go back to smaller and lighter lenses on the EM1.2.

Only time will tell, but I’ve always fancied giving the Fuji medium format a run and prices on used units have come down to the point that I could trade the 12-100 lens, and my XT4 and just be shy of a GFX50

While this would be really cool, I have to doubt this; especially since the two 20MP sensors in the Z50 and E-M1 II are comparable in many ways. I own the E-M5 III - same sensor; while dated, it's capable of similar results up to ISO 1600 in most situations, though DR at lowest ISOs is a bit lower, too, but that's rarely an issue with the subject matter I shoot (and my way of processing).

However, the 12-100mm f/4 PRO is an amazing lens - as good as the Z 18-140mm is, I think it's not in the same league. That said, it's smaller and lighter and, as discussed, really competent. So, YMMV - for me, the Z 18-140mm wins in terms of portability and fits my use case better (EDC and tarvel - small takes the cake).

Yes, I think that the 12-100 really is an unequalled "unicorn" lens.

Its resolution across the frame is as good as two of Voigtländer's best primes, according to Lenstip (?). Really quite remarkable. Bokeh is also very smooth (I prefer to think in terms of focus transitions), much more so than the 12-40 and 40-150 Pro lenses.

And it performs as well as this at all apertures and FLs, with a slight decrease in resolution between f/4 and f/4.5.

IME, it is very usable at even f/11 and f/13, but is noticeably less so at f/16 and f/22.

An amazing lens, and remarkable "statement product" by Olympus at their best.

While the 8-25 Pro is very good, it's not quite as good as the 12-100 in absolute resolution terms.

I have just received a "new to me" Leica Q 1, still getting it setup how I like it but initial tests look really promising. The menus, although not too many, have been a bit of a hurdle as they are not as familiar or full featured as the Sony ones that I am more accustomed to. I have no idea how many shots it has taken and seems impossible to find out, however, it is in decent condition and was owned from new by an amateur who only used it for holidays and family events so I doubt it will have too many clicks. There are a couple of small dust spots on the sensor ( prone to this apparently ) but are not really visible unless you are really nit picking.
I will share some photos when I get chance to take it out, weather hasn't been great for last few days but looking better for the weekend.

Carl Zeiss Jena Pancolar 50mm F2 in Exakta mount. This one needed a bit of service, cleaned the optics, it will still need some work to make the focus smoother, but that's a job for another day.

This one is wide open until you press the button on that little thing under the lens, which make is slower, but surprisingly more satisfying as it is a very old timey analog experience.

FWIW, unlike the M42 mount 1.8 version, this one is not radioactive.

A bit of cheap fun ...

Actually, contrary to my expectations, the lens is mostly made out of metal, sturdy and surprisingly heavy, but also very small. Its built-in lens cap makes the whole combo even smaller, and its lack of AF makes it super-quiet and unassuming in operation.

We'll see about optical quality soon (once the rain stops).

Got a black body F. Originally shipped with a large FTN viewfinder but I'd prepared 18 months earlier for this occasion by tracking down a standard prism finder, so I could pair the two 'Panda' style when I finally tracked down a body...

Has a few problems, the winder feels pretty graunchy (understandable given its age) and the shutter count doesn't reset when the back is removed. Originally it felt like the shutter was stuck but I left it overnight and it seems to have come right. No idea why. Maybe some grease hardened grease?

Will find some Arista 400 or Kodak Tri-X to run through it when I get some time.

Coming home from another week of training my company put on for photography. The vendors, were generous as always, so I’m flying back with (yet another) new tripod, a brand new GoPro 13 black with all the lens attachments, a WD 1TB portable extreme drive, and of course, a bunch of stickers and tee shirts 😂 However the best thing is a drive full of thousands of great pictures I need to get through.

I had a rep “promise” me that a Pentax 17 would show up at my door, but I’ll believe that when I see it.

Long version: After waiting for more than nine years, Leica finally issued the version of the Q I had always hoped for - and on the basis of the Q3, a camera I had almost bought a couple of times already. I had more or less given up on something like the Q3 43 ever being issued, though - so much so that I even refused to believe the rumours up until the actual announcement. Yesterday, I activated an availability alarm on Leica's Swiss website - without much hope of the camera becoming actually obtainable in Switzerland any time soon. How very wrong I was: Leica Switzerland contacted me almost immediately to recommend joining a waiting list for one of the Leica Stores; so I did. This morning, Leica Store Zürich contacted me to tell me they had a couple of Q3 43 cameras in stock! Considering the past shortages concerning desirable cameras, it was practically now or never (or at least much, much later). So I had to get it ... Still in the process of setting it up, images to follow.

6, possibly 9 month waiting list after the current batch flys out of the shops apparently, so your timing was certainly right.
