Probably the last of the manual focus Nikkors I'll be picking up for a long time... the 28mm f2.8 AIS. This is the one with the close focus correction so you can get veeery close to your subject. Need to take it for a spin in the garden at some stage, see how it fares with some flowers...

Why did you out on my town? Now I can't see the sky anymore, it's all dark. Can you at least open up the aperture a bit so I can have a bit more light, like f 2.8? :p (I live in Wellington, Somerset, UK)

Look forward to that. I've been hanging around for an F2 24mm or 28mm Nikkor Ai/Ai-s/even pre Ai but if your one shapes up well I might go for it myself.

I have really enjoyed the Laowa 12mm f/2.8 plus Magic Shift Convertor on my Sony A7RII. However, I found that it wasn’t quite wide enough for all occasions (it is effectively a 17mm f/4), plus the knobs and adjustment levers were on the adaptor (obviously) but that meant they were very close to the lens mount, so could trap your fingers against the camera grip.

So, I put in a cheeky bid for a Laowa 15mm f/4.5 lens and the buyer accepted it. It is the 14 blade model (there is also a 5 blade version with a blue ring) and it focuses a lot closer than the previous combination.

Picked up a Q2, as pricing has fallen to a point where it makes sense for me. It will replace my Q-P, which has been my main family/everyday camera for a while. I'll be sad to see that go, as it's a beauty, but I like some of the features the Q2 brings.

Crappy phone pic of both attached.

The HD DA 15mm f4 Ltd arrived from a Pentax Forums member yesterday. Haven't had a chance to do more than look through the viewfinder yet, but I'm going to use it on the Monochrome for the single in challenge.

This is the first lens I've caved and bought as a DA (APS-C) format lens, which will only work on my full frame Pentax in crop mode (and only works on late film bodies with electronic aperture control). I like the idea of fully cross-compatible lenses, but there aren't a lot of wide options in FA format which are still wide on APS-C.

I debated between this and the excellent DA 21mm, but in the end, the availability of the HD, and silver, version of this lens at a bargain price persuaded me. Vainly, all three of my Limited series lenses are HD and silver.

An opportunity aroused after checking on Oxfam online store for months on a daily basis just to see what might drop and I could not refuse the meer 15 £ asking price for a 2 axis slider. The build quality is plastic fantastic but it seems to work fine and I will try it it for indoor macro focus stacking. While the camera can do that fine on its own I was thinking that this might let me try 80 MP High Resolution and stack the images OR I could widen the filed of view with the 2nd slider to do panorama macro focus stacking.

Many opportunities and ideas to try for just 15 £.

I hate taking the CF card in and out, every time I put it in either the camera or the reader I am worried of bending the little pins that connect that stupid design (SD cards are so much better not because of the size, imho, but the much safer design).

Of course, it's a specialty cable, and the transfer is slow with it, but it is not expensive and I never have to remove that CF card from the camera, - that, I am happy with.

Good Evening,

I made a trade of a DJI drone that was surplus to my needs for the Canon RF 600mm f11 STM lens. I have had great success with its' big brother, the 800, and I thought that it would make a great addition to my kayak-kit. I did some BIF photos which I will post later tonight.

Regards,

Edd

A friend of my parents had no success selling this lot on the local auction sites....so she gave them to me. "I'm sure you can use some of this"

The Zenit 12XP with Helios lens appears to be in unused working condition, had the Soviet-era manual and a Polish instruction booklet.
The KW Praktica FX 2 was in a very dusty condition, but came right back to life after an hour of cleaning. Mirror is a little scratchy, 1/500th is capping, and 1/10th is sticking open. Other speeds seem fine.
The Box Brownie Jr Six-20 has an unexposed roll of 120 in it.....which of course wouldn't have worked without a 620 spool.
The Warwick appears to be inoperative.
The Deltz Binocular Hood is in a well-worn but serviceable condition. It can go right onto one of my vintage TLRs

I haven't even looked at the Certo Certina yet.

The Praktica cleaned up pretty well with a little helping of ceramic stove top cleaner.
Dug out another M42 lens from the pile. ... I should probably get a Meyer-Optik Primotar or something for it.

I started off with the Practica Super TL.

I started off with the Practica Super TL.

My first film SLR was a Praktica MTL-50, that I bought after my sister gave me an M42 300mm f/5.6 Takumar I had no camera body for. Somewhere in 2007.

The FX2 is rocking that Zeiss 50mm f/2.8 Tessar that I picked up last week. One of those were you have to manually cock the aperture stop-down mechanism.

I'm slowly building up a little collection of Chinese lenses. Today's haul : a used TTArtisan 17mm f/1.4 manual for Z mount.
Since I'm doing the SiN with the 23mm on that body, I'm going to have to wait a while before I get to do daily walkabouts with it
Or I might mount it on the full frame Z6ii and lose half the megapixels, but it will be ultra-wide on that, which will be fun as well

*lens in the photo below is of the TTArtisan 23mm, which I removed from my camera to test the 17, this image is shot with the 17mm

Konica M Hexanon Dual 21-35mm f3.4-4. It is a dual range lens and not a zoom. There were only 800 made so it is somewhat rare. I have been contemplating and searching for this lens for some time at the right price, at least for me. I wanted the full kit, the box, finder, pouch and hood. I found and bought this one on FM in excellent shape. It arrived today and I am pleasantly surprised by the size, I thought it was going to be bigger. It is not something I will always use, but there are times where it would be nice to be able to quickly swap between 21 and 35mm. My favorite focal length tends to be 28mm so this slots in perfectly, especially in good light.

So it was an expensive week 😳 I have been looking for the Olympus 17mm f1.2 Pro for a long time. I would go back and forth as to whether or not I should even get one. It is not a lens I will use a lot but there are times when it is the perfect lens for certain images. I much prefer smaller lenses (and bodies) and this one is not, but, it is very sharp. I put a low bid in on an eBay auction thinking there was no way I would win, but, well, here it is 😁 No box which is ok (sorry Ovi), especially at this price and because the lens itself is in excellent condition. So, when it rains it pours, 2 new lenses in one week, Christmas came early I guess!

Huggles cuddles Congratulations on your Oly 17mm f 1.2 PRO. For me it has quickly became one of my favourite prime of all time even though there are curtains moments and kinds of photography that I have difficult time making this lens work (like street photography).
But the images I got from this lens are some of my favourite b cause they have such a character that I would not be able to get with any other lens (except maybe the f 0.95):

I really can’t wait to see what you do with this incredibly unique lens.

Thanks Chris. I am really looking forward to using it. Just playing with it around the house, I am very pleased with it and I am thrilled with the size. It is not that much bigger than my mainstay, the Voigtlander 28mm/1.5. The Konica will be very easy to keep in the bag. I do like zooms but for the most part, I tend to use one end of a zoom or another for many shots anyway so a 21 and 35 in one lens will be great! The build quality of the Konica is second to none. Focus is buttery smooth, the aperture ring clicks perfectly, and switching from 21 to 35 has just the right amount of resistance. I ordered a 62mm B&W nano filter to protect the front element. I was mistaken in that the hood was not included and the front lens element is not very recessed so I see a filter as a necessity.
