GAS GAS: Please Share your Latest Acquisitions Big and Small

My X-T3 sure made out like a bandit this Christmas. New lens, shutter nubbin, and now a JJC grip for the bigger lenses…that I don’t have yet.

I did learn a valuable lesson in Fuji battery swaps. Don’t do it while the camera is on. It will reset the settings.

After switching to M43/MFT this year (in the exact middle! July 1), I discovered this beautiful little Lumix DMC-GF7 that I simply had to get. I have only twice in 50 years bought a camera for its looks (the first was a black Canonet QL 1.7 in 1973) but in both cases it made sense as well. It's a great walking around/street camera (as was the Canon):

HOWEVER! In order to get this color, I had to import it from Japan via eBay, because this color was only sold there. And therefore the entire menu system is in Japanese! Fortunately, this model (in black and I think white or silver) was also sold in the US, so armed with the US manual and Google Translate on my phone (I can point the camera at the menu and it translates on the fly), I can pretty much muddle through almost everything I need. It's phenomenally light and quite powerful for a 10-year-old camera, and even my OM1 doesn't store a database of recognized faces!

The best part is that it can also serve as a backup body for my OM1. It's ridiculously light and small, but the funniest thing ever is how it looks on my Olympus 100-400:

I especially love the way it floats in the air!

Well - since you ask ;) We were disappointed.
It was a present from our German neighbours who have renovated the house next door to be an Air B&B and my son has helped them a lot during the year, so this was a little thank-you from them.
It's from a very fancy wine estate that has the most expensive goodies in their shop, both at the farm as well as on-line.
We did look forward to tasting it, but it lacked something - either lemon juice or salt or vanilla essence? not sure what but in the words of my daughter "it had no depth"
“it had no depth”. I’ll remember that one for future use. 🧐

Totally accidental, of course. It surprised me too. Sometimes it's easy to bump the on/off switch without knowing. I do wonder if it was just an anomaly, but I don't want to find out again.
That's interesting as I'm fairly careless when it comes to switching off my Fuji's when changing the battery and I've been never had this happened.

Only now I've jinxed myself for saying this ;)

You are a true hero! This kind of hacking is right up my alley! Thank you so much! 😺 :camera::mu43:👍

Update: it worked!!!!! Also, I was happy to see that website was the one Emily Whatsherface from YouTube runs!

Apparently the Fuji XApp will allow you to backup/restore your camera settings. I don't know if that feature works with the X-T3 or not.

Despite a 6 month estimate my X100VI arrived in only 3 months (ordered in Vancouver, Canada, and chose a black body for which there is less demand but it's also my preference, anyway). X100V will be put up for sale as soon as I return to work (I have the original box and stuff in my office).
My much used V has some paint wear on the edges and the on-off switch, along with a scratch on the top deck.

Yeah, it's a great M43 lens. Something that's been missing from the lineup for so long, a rectilinear, fast, UWA prime.
I was actually about to buy a Laowa UWA but then Panasonic announced the 9/1.7. Like you, I think it was an obvious gap in their lens line up and was surprised it took them so long to fill it. I'm glad they chose to build it light and compact because that has benefited my travel kit a lot.

The X100V rendered you plenty of good service, no doubt the VI will do the same!

I wouldn't trust it. I backed up everything with that handy app before sending a body out for service; when it came back the restore didn't. Luckily I had an older backup on my computer from the Fuji program on Windows.

You do have to watch for the purple flare, and even some rainbow rings depending on the direction of shooting, at least on OM bodies. I suspect LUMIX bodies do some correcting for that.
