I wouldn't trust it. I backed up everything with that handy app before sending a body out for service; when it came back the restore didn't. Luckily I had an older backup on my computer from the Fuji program on Windows.
Yikes. I guess I'll install the Fuji Windows program, then. The Fuji menu layout is quite different from my Panasonics so it's mildly frustrating going through the adjusting things on the Fuji. So if I can set it and forget it (and restore if something catastrophic happens) then I'm all for it.

The X100V rendered you plenty of good service, no doubt the VI will do the same!
Thanks. I just looked up my first X100V photo to see how long I had it and am surprised to see I got in Dec of 2020. So I've been shooting with it for just over 4 years, wow. For some reason I thought I only had it for 2 years. Over that period I shot 25,000 photos over 385 dates and less than 4,000 were keepers (not "great photo" keepers but just keeperes). I was shooting an average of 64 frames per outing. Many times I was shooting as a kind of physical mnemonic to remind me to shoot the same scene in the future when conditions might be better. But I'm also a degenerate burst rate shooter.

You do have to watch for the purple flare, and even some rainbow rings depending on the direction of shooting, at least on OM bodies. I suspect LUMIX bodies do some correcting for that.
I've run into that a bit with my 8-18 but don't recall that with my 9/1.7 but the latter has mainly been used indoors.

You want degenerate? As a bird photographer, I'm consistently going through 25K shots every two months or so!

I know the feeling, I am a wildlife photographer and a macro photographer, besides having hundreds or thousands of images from burst I also have the same from focus bracketing and/or stacking.
For 2024 I had 17.000 images I kept, in comparison to 2023 where I had 6000 images.

So my wife put a Christmas card in my stocking with a note saying to go and buy whatever lens I wanted. And I wanted this one (no way was I going take advantage of her and get that OM 150-4000 ) . As far as I can tell, fitted to my old and battered X-E2, it's on par with the XF27mm 2.8 that I wish I hadn't sold. Except it is quieter and has an aperture ring, so overall, I like it better.

For the princely sum of $184, I bought the Panasonic 20-60mm for the SL2-S from MPB. It arrived yesterday and it is more in line with what I want for a zoom for this body versus the Sigma 24-70/2.8 which is much larger and nearly a pound heavier. The Sigma zoom is going to go back to B&H. I also have a used Sigma 35/2 DG DN prime on the way from Usedphotopro.com (Roberts Camera) as my one AF prime.

Wow. To me, that’s an astonishingly cheap price given what that lens can do.

I agree! Since it was a “kit lens” people dismiss it and sell them off. For me, it is really all I want as far as zooms go for the SL2-S. There is a Panasonic 16-35/4 S Pro lens over on FM that is very tempting but I would never use it due the size and all I gain is f4 and a little wider. This lens seems to be reasonably sharp, and very light weight with a good range.

Daa daaa DUM!

(Voigtländer 50mm f3.5 APO-Lanthar)

What, such a slow lens!? But it looks soooo cool, and I mostly shoot at f/4 or smaller anyway!

My semi-justifiable excuse is that with such a large gap between the focus and aperture rings I won't accidentally turn them both at the same time. That is a real risk in winter, when the use of gloves is mandatory. :D

And no, it's not collapsible.

Just for fun, the Japanese-manufactured (by Sekonic) version of the Weston Master meter, oft-maligned by Weston purists, but with some very cool features (including measuring light in units of foot-candles, and a calculation dial similar to that of the Weston Ranger 9, Ansel Adams preferred tool for years).

A Thinktank Presspass sling. I love the dimensions - wide but not tall or deep. Simple and pliable.
Perfect for carrying more, smaller gear.

Against my better judgement, I just paid for this G95 and lens from a seller with no history. $115.33 including shipping and tax.
I see a few possible outcomes.

1. Complete scam.
2. I receive a used, beat up, non-working G95 and 12-60 or a paper weight.
3. It actually works out with a new working model, likely an import.
4. The seller made a listing mistake and retracts the listing with a refund.

I would think Ebay protects against 1 and 2 but I'm sure there are limits and workarounds.
I guess I'm willing to gamble the $115.33.

Here's the listing.
We'll see.

Interesting, John! Here’s hoping for outcome 3!

Yeah, I hate to say it’ll probably be number 1, but you’ll get your money back at some point. Just takes a little time.
