GAS GAS: Please Share your Latest Desires Big and Small

They got this up pretty quick. I don't have the 12-40 anymore, but I have the other three. The 12-45 is lighter than 56 and about the size as 25 (the PanLeica 25 has big hood, looks bigger than the 12-45 hood, so they will probably be really close).
That is fast. The Fuji 16-80 has been out a while, and is still not on there. I notice the E-MI III is already on there, too. I wonder who provides the information to CameraSize?

I don't know why, but started to think about getting help for Lightroom work....😳

If this thing were freely programmable, I'd've got one ages ago. But it's dedicated to a couple of apps with plugin-like functionality. And since I don't use that software ...

The CT might become a sufficiently open platform over time since it's actually freely assignable; but it's a lot more expensive ...

I looked also CT but it's double the price and more complex. What I like in this is the simplicity.

Isn't there a slight chance Panasonic comes up with a "GX10" or something this summer? :coffee-79:
So I've heard, but it maybe / probably be bigger, heavier and much more expensive. Besides, I'm not lusting over the latest piece of overstuffed electronics that the future may hold.
I feel that :mu43: cameras should be compact ....... much like the GX85 / GX9 is now. My Fuji X system cameras are the largest size I want to use.

Panasonic is too much distracted with FF when the overall camera market is shrinking:
Panasonic interview: 'If we stay united I think we will survive'

"Do you see more long-term opportunity in the full-frame market, compared to Micro Four Thirds?
We want to target different customers, and we will keep developing cameras for both categories - full-frame and Micro Four Thirds. We believe that the two categories can co-exist. That’s why we keep pursuing both [product lines].

So you don’t mind if an entry-level customer comes into the L-mount via a Sigma or Leica camera?
Initially, we really wanted to appeal to high-end users, to show that we could make those high-end cameras. To prove the quality of our cameras. In the future, we’re going to introduce mid-class, and different ranges of cameras.

What are the most important priorities for evolving the S1 lineup, in the future?
Overall, we’ve had a lot of appreciative comments from high-end users. What’s hindering us in the lower-end segment is size, weight and price. So we need to understand those obstacles, and we’re considering the development of new products in order to penetrate into a wider market.

Editor's note: Barnaby Britton
The S1 and S1R have been on the market for a while now: long enough for Panasonic to get an idea of how they've been received. Anecdotally, neither model seems to be selling in huge numbers (at least not in the US or UK: the two territories in which I've recently had the opportunity to speak to staff in specialist camera stores) but Mr. Yamane's claim of a 10% share of the €3,000+ market, globally, counts as strong performance from a new line."

GAS ALERT

Nikon Df for 990 € from a store, 1 month return for defects.

Some hastily made reasons to go for this.
  • Used Df's currently command a market rate of around 900 € so it's not going to be a big loss reselling this in the future.
  • Wanted to experiment the OVF viewfinders with through-the-lens composing so a direct control DSLR is a great idea.
  • Over at Leicaland I've been lusting after ultra fast (ultra) wide angles (f.ex. 21mm f/1.4) but the options are very expensive in general; TTArtisan being a nice exception.

Nonetheless, ultrawides and rangefinder don't mix perfectly because one has to compose using another window and the MFDs are also very poor. There are great options for (ultra) fast wide angles.
  • Feeling like M10P is currently endgame camera for me but it commands a €5.5-6k price tag, simply put, very expensive. It's not going to drop too much even after the M11 is announced. Df will beat M10P and most certainly also M11 in high-ISO games, whereas on lower ISOs I have my M240.
  • 30yo crisis starting any time soon 🥳
