GAS GEAR: Please Share your Latest Disposals Big and Small

Just finished wrapping up the OG Oly 40-150 4/3 kit zoom. Slow (77 days) and cheap (€40) sale, but as I have the newer one and have two tiny 4/3 bodies (E-400/410) I didnt see any need for it to stay around.

Also reposted a silver Oly 14-42MkII kit lens, and have the E-PM1s up still.

In the cheapish pipeline is a black Oly 14-42, one, or possibly two 14-42EZ, a Lumix 14mm, a silver Lumix 14-42MkII, possibly a black one of those as well as most likely several 12-32s. Probably also the Nikon D7000 with one of the kit zooms but may pick up a D90 in its place.

In the not so cheapish pipeline I am (still) pondering off-loading the G9 in a bundle with some accessories, and the Pana-Leica 8-200 trio 1.4X TC with the 50-200.

Parted with a Canon FT QL and a set of three lenses I acquired for free, and my Yashica FX-3 (which was new old stock when I bought it), and 3 lenses for the CY system. I made a profit on the Yashica, (and obviously on the Canon). Using the store credit I was given, it allowed me to get a Mamiya RB67, two lenses, a prism finder, and 120 back for under $250.
Subsequently, as I paired down two 35mm cameras, it only leaves me with the ones I really care about, which will hopefully lead to more use. A Pen FT, my Dad’s Olympus OM1, and my Nikon FE. Oh, and I still have a Zorki 4 that I can’t stand, but I’m not done putting my first and last roll of film through it yet. It’s been 4 years. I’m getting there.

I had to give Canon back their EF 600mm f/4. I now have their RF 135mm f/1.8!

A quick eBay search shows Nikon D1X selling for 3x more than I paid for mine several years ago. Given the near mint condition of mine, and still having the original box and contents, I may get top dollar for it. I love the camera, but everyone has their price 😂. I may sell it, pick up a D80 as a substitute, and put the rest towards my wide angle RB67 lens I need. 🤔

The Mamyia 65mm is a superb lens, better than the 55mm super wide.
I have heard good things about the 65mm, but I think I’d prefer the 50mm. I get along better with 28mm equivalent FOV over a 35mm. Near as I can tell, so long as you’re stopping down at close distances, image quality from both are good, and at long distances what ever aperture floats your boat will work. We shall see!

Scrap the D80. I don’t think I need to keep an APSC sensor Nikon in the stable. If I’m going to pick up a DSLR, it’ll be my Df. So that said, I’ll also sell my 18-140, and 35mm 1.8 along with the D1X.
On another note, apparently hipsters are going nuts for old point and shoots, and my 13 year old Canon elph sd1200is is going for as much or more than I paid for it new. It’s in perfect shape and has all the original goodies, so should command top dollar…why not?

Last of the E-PMs was turned over to the postal service today, the silver one was the first to go, by happenstance. My experience so far is that it is the black one that goes first, but that one actually needed a re-listing for it to move.

Still has an abundance of kit lenses for M43 and some not very kit lenses to get rid of, now also including a Pentax 18-135. Bought one last spring but got another one along with the K-3, and has no need for two of them.

May also look into the bodies, I dont think I will pursue Nikon further, but plan to keep the D40 for its rather nice sensor, along with the 35 and one of the zooms.

Just put up for sale on evilBay my Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 45mm f 1.8 Silver ... as much as I tried the lens hasn't left the best impression on me and it could very well be just me. Given the high reputation and regard for the lens, I thought I liked it more but for the last 5 months, I have hardly used it. I almost always pick my Olympus 12-40mm f 2.8 PRO over it and, now, even the Olympus 40-150mm f 2.8 PRO as well, both zooms are sharper (to my eyes), have a better rendition (as in the f 1.8 is doesn't seem to be a big difference to f 2.8). and they are faster to focus than this little fellow. And for its extremely low price I'm not blaming the 45mm f 1.8 as being inadequate ... it just hasn't made me feel the way the Sony FE 85mm f 1.8 did.

I am on the ropes if I should try the Olympus 45mm f 1.2 PRO or not because of the price ... maybe the Sigma 56mm f 1.4 since it's a looooot cheaper by comparison.

Good Evening,

I just put the Asahi Takumar 500mm f5 lens I converted over to M42/EOS with AF focus confirm chip in the car; I'm giving it to a student of mine that wants it for coastal photography of shore birds and boats. I did tell him that he probably shouldn't be walking around in his neighborhood with it though, being a teenage boy and all...

Regards,

Edd

I have had three of these lenses, all sold. The one with the "same" or very close to it, I kept and like, is the Lumix 42.5 f:1.7
I had the Panasonic Lumix G 42.5mm f 1.7 ASPH Power OIS back when I had Panasonic G9 and GX8. It is a very sharp little lens and the purple fringing is very well controlled (better then Oly) but it does suffer more from LoCA (bokeh fringing especially the green tint), I did love the very good close focus ability and IQ. But again, f 1.7/1.8/2 doesn't do a lot for me in Micro Four Thirds format.
