Throwback to 2012 when I, too, had a Nikon 1 V1!

As I recall, I was hunting for something to complement my then new M9. Something to use with either very wide or very long lenses, but also to carry around daily. V1 wasn't quite it: while small, it didn't feel any in a bag than the M9, and the adapters I bought for my M/F-mount lenses were pretty low quality to put it kindly. And it got HOT while shooting. Mere months later the V1 gave way to Olympus E-M5.

But now I suddenly feel the itch again! :D

V1 users always seem to be very fond of their gear, what you say about it is about as critical as I've seen. If that's as bad as it gets, that's a very good thing.

Summar 50mm F2 in the middle. It's always extended like that to ensure I don't erroneously attach it collapsed to the camera and damage the sensor. Zeiss C-Sonnar to the left, Zeiss Biogon 21mm F2.8 to the right with viewfinder. This was just a "warming up" picture after I turned the camera on.

Uhm ... no. :p

Haha - touché. I should have said too many cameras ‘for me’.

I would ideally want one camera system, but know that’s likely not possible and would result in GAS down the road. What I currently have covers pretty much anything I’d need or want to shoot, but with those options always available, leads to some FOMO when going out with only one set (if only I had my…). First world issues I guess.

I know exactly what you mean. I'm happy to have found my main system (Nikon Z) while being willing and able to hang on to the system I'm passionate about (Leica M). :mu43: has been with me from the point on I got back into photography - it basically made it all happen for me. So, I have a soft spot for it - and besides, I do enjoy the E-M5 III (and haven't found a camera to replace the GX9 for me yet).

So, I kind of feel the same way, but have come to the conclusion that while it's not ideal, once I take the M mount stuff out of the equation (because it's not part of any usability considerations), I feel I should be able to settle for two systems I already own while keeping the :mu43: system as restricted as possible. So far, since getting to this point, I have done pretty well in that respect (and that respect only :p) because I have been able to quench the desire to get into another system - but I'll admit that both Panasonic (S5, S5 II) and the Sony A7C have been tempting me a fair number of times, for different reasons. I hope I can keep resisting - realistically, it'd be a dumb move to diversify, but I'm into trying out lenses, and both the E and the L mount offer vast opportunities ... After successfully getting out of the X mount and E mount (which I've actually managed to successfully adapt to Z mount for the most part), returning to or buying into more systems wouldn't be a wise move, though.

Nowadays, I've settled for three cameras as daily drivers which I pick according to weather and opportunity: Nikon Z fc with Z 28mm f/2.8 on workdays, Nikon Z 50 with Z 18-140mm f/3.5-6.3 for strolls and casual photo walks, Olympus E-M5 III with 12-45mm f/4 PRO for rainy days. If I have trouble deciding, there's always the Z 6 with Z 40mm f/2. Everything else only comes out if I see an opportunity for a more dedicated photo walk or if I feel a desire to shoot a certain combo (which happens pretty frequently, to be honest, especially regarding M mount and Voigtländer Z primes). So, usually, no regrets - horses for courses, mostly, and using what I have with me, no matter what.

And yes, utterly a first world issue. A typical one, too. But it's where we're at - there's way worse things to use and collect than cameras. At least they do have their uses.
