Nice lens, and I'm glad you brought this up. I had almost forgotten about my trusty old Tamron mirror. ;)

Here it is mounted on my old 10D.

Here is a shot I took with this set up.

And I had to have a couple 2X adapters to go with this set.

I have actually shot this lens with "both" 2X adapters mounted, and I can tell you it's a real bear. :( Lets see, 500 x 2 = 1000mm, x 2 again, 2000mm, x 1.6 for the crop in a 10D = 3200mm. That, and for each 2X adapter you get 2 stops less light. Starting with the mirror lenses F/8, the first adapter takes us down to F/16, then the second adapter takes us down to something like F64? Try working with this at night.
First of all you have light loss. That and the magnification means you have to let it settle down before shooting, (vibration) use a remote to trip the shutter, and the Moon will move completely out of frame if you don't have some sort of tracking device, and I don't.
Here's one of my first shots with this set up. Not very good I'm afraid, but this is full frame on this crop camera.

Hey, I was playing around. While this did work, I think it would be much easier with better results if you used an actual telescope. ;)

A picture taken by William Eggleston,of some of his 300 cameras. These are all Leica 3 and Canon rangefinders.
Interestingly,he took this with a Fuji Xpro 1.

Is this his retirement fund?

Funny that they are just thrown into a wooden box. I've seen photos of camera equipment inside Pelican cases with tons of foam padding. And here's one of our greatest living photographers who crams them all together like sardines!

So you have to remove the original one first? Do you find they are all the same thread size?
-Bruce

Fuji, Leica and old cameras have a shutter button that is threaded out of the box. It is designed for plunger type cable releases. A soft release button with the same threads can be screwed into the hole designed for the cable release.

If you have a non threaded release there are some stick on buttons you can add, I think Gariz makes some.

OK, Thanks. I have some older cameras with that cable release style button. ;)
