Getting kinky... the
Canomatic, well known trash cam, complete with picture of
one of the metal weights provided by its shady manufacturer to add heft to this
free focus,
auto zoom,
color lens high tech wonder... and there are two more, smaller weights still left inside.
The "
auto zoom" is brilliant, by the way. It's used to change the aperture between a fast f:6.3 and f:16, by using the small red "
zoom buttons" on top of the grip. But the empty lens barrel still moves in and out.
The actual "
optical lens f:6.3/50 mm" consists of a single plastic meniscus, recessed deep down inside the lens barrel. And it's both "
free focus" and "
focus free"! The last statement is probably closest to the truth. The self timer to the right of the lens is a nice touch.
The "
mode dial" on the top is used to tell the motor drive, powered by two AA batteries, to wind or rewind the film. But most likely the film will have slipped off the take up spool.
One can still see these on auction sites, now and again, trying hard to impersonate real cameras.
Tailor made to make Granny buy a nice camera for her grandchildren.
The only thing I like about this camera is the dual viewfinder system. My favourite is the waist level finder.
And the grip is actually pretty comfortable.

And here it is, with and without the weight of quality...

Of course, it's got nothing at all to do with Canon.
Edit: come to think about it, the "
auto zoom" actually serves as a variable lens hood!
