Regardless whether you are a royalist or not, and wherever you are from in the world, I think we can all respect a woman who devoted her whole life to the duty of her country.
She was a unique person among the people of this world, having bridged the divide between the Europe (and England, and the world) that existed when she was young, to the vastly different one(s) of the modern day. No one like her will ever exist again.
If there is any person who stands for those virtues attributed by writers and philosophers throughout the last centuries to us Germans - above all Pflichterfüllung (fulfilling duty) - it is Elizabeth II.
She could have retired a long time ago and handed the duties over to Charles. The new prime minister could learn a lot from her example. Even among the European royals she stands out in her work ethic.
