Approaching 1 month into my RX100 ownership and has been my carry everywhere camera for me just amazed by the quality and results it produces. All that Sony needs to do for the 2nd generation is to add a faster shutter speed, faster aperture in the telephoto range f/4.9 into max zoom is unacceptable, improvements into handling would be an awesome icing in the cake.

Some photos I took today.

It seems like camera makers release their new models too soon to volley with the competition rather than offer the best possible product. I am sure there is a built in we'll fix it on the next one clause-- but then doing only that allows the competitor to catch up if you really are ahead.

I feel that the aperture range is quite acceptable given the overall size of the camera. Compromise is one of the things that you sign up for when choosing a camera like the RX100 that pushes the boundaries of size and performance.

That's true it's hard to argue being able to bring this thing everywhere was the main deciding factor that swayed me into the RX100.
