I was idly looking at an iPad app called Red Shift an aid to astronomy enthusiasts, up popped this image, really quite an unusual conjunction. Just a pity I couldn't see this in real life as it was too cloudy!

I know it's not exactly a photo but none the less!

That would have been nice. We often have total obscuration here when a notable celestial event is taking place. I don't think I've ever seen the Perseid meteor shower.

Someone pointed out to me that I wouldn't have seen them anyway because it was "daylight" oops.
