Hi everyone! My name is Tony Burns and I'm an aspiring amateur photographer from Delaware. I'm a software engineer by trade, and photography has become my favorite hobby since the second half of 2015. In particular, I've decided to focus my trajectory on strobist product photography in my tiny home office studio.

I shoot everything with my Sony a6000, mostly with the Sony E 35mm f/1.8 and the Sony E 30mm f/3.5 macro (occasionally with the kit lens as well), and if you look at my Flickr you'll see that I mostly take pictures of my other hobby, flashlights and everyday carry gear.

Excited to join the community here!

Welcome Tony,
Your photo "Lighting Setup For Monkey Balls" shows you really know what you're doing with regard to lighting.

That title also made the 12 year old boy trapped inside me giggle out loud.

BTW, do you have a favorite smallish flashlight?

you should be able to figure it out...
Hi Tony, welcome!

Where in Delaware? I'm just north of the state line in Chester County, PA, pretty close to Wilmington and Newark...

I too "hunt light rather than create it" (that's a great line Steve!), but I like what you're doing with it from the little I've seen thus far...

Thanks, Luke! I'm really just a novice when it comes to lighting still, though I'm glad to feel like I'm making progress :D My favorite light, and the one I carry with me every day is still the ZebraLight SC62w.

Hi Tony (this is my first message on this site too but welcome anyway!)

I bought an a6000 and sent it back as it just didn't work well for me even though I desperately wanted it to. You seem to be making the standard of photos I had thought possible but couldn't get out of the one I got, so well done! How do you feel about the a6000 when looking at images up close? It seems fine for internet size images but do you feel you are getting the full use of its megapixel count?

Nice light work and keep up the good work!

All the best,

Dan

Hi Dan, thanks for the kind words! I've been really happy with my a6000, and the sharpness up close has been just fine for me (I don't do prints though).
