It's been a long time since I've seen a post from him and the last I knew was that he was out and about recovering from an operation.

@Kevin It's getting strange: Just tried the "Find Member" prompt with other members' names; it worked as expected. It still doesn't display "Herbert Hound", though hitting enter immediately finds the account.

I think what you're running into is XF (XenForo) determining members who are 'active' or not and not showing the non-active members in some spots.

To clarify that, in a post for example people can tag somebody by using the @ symbol and then start typing in the persons name to select from. The problem comes in that because there could be a huge number of matches, XF tries to reduce the possible results returned by only showing the recently active members. What that means is that if I try to tag you I could start typing @moon and you'll be shown in the results because you've been recently active but if I try @herbert then I won't get any results returned because Herbert Hound hasn't been active. I think the 'active' period is by default 90 days but is something I would need to verify.

As I type this I also poked around a few places to see if I could find the non active members using any of the searches and it doesn't look like there is. It's not a topic that comes up often but I'll put "How do I find non active members by their name?" on my mental To Do list.
