Hermes

the first one is great, nicely framed by the trees, the ground and the clouds, and with the gold acting as highlights among the silhouetted statue, and the pillar standing out against the dark woods behind it :)
second and third are nice, but not as strong as the first one

#1 for me too Paul. Top shot. I think it's the repetition of intricate patterns between the top of the silhouetted trees and the detail of the statue that make it sing.

It's a landslide - that first one is it for me - love the way the golden orb and the top of his helmet show the gold, while the rest is cloaked in darkness. Wonderfully framed, as well, Paul.

gosh what an unexpected and gratifying response from you all. I really only took these as a document of something very odd to find in the middle of a field !

thanks to all

I thought it unusual to be able to see woods directly behind such a statue, but I assumed it was a park of some sort. Very funny that it's just in the middle of a field!
