A shot taken in my writing office, where a cloth shoulder-bag hangs from one of my bookcases - which bears a stylized photographic image of the great Galician (Spanish) poet, Rosalía de Castro.
In the original Gallego (Galician) language, she wrote:
“Eu son libre, nada pode conter a marcha dos meus pensamentos, e eles son a lei que rexe o meu destino”
(Rosalía de Castro)
In Spanish it translates to: "Yo soy libre. Nada puede proteger la marcha de mis pensamientos, y ellos son la ley que rige mi destino."
And in English: I am free. Nothing can safeguard the march of my thoughts and they are the law that governs my destiny.)

Poet. Gallega. Humanist. Feminist. Poet Laureate of Galicia.
One of the first gallega writers who 'dared' to write poetry in her own native tongue, and not in Spanish. (Like most galegos, she was fluently bilingual in both languages.) And an example for many many people, of many ages, both in her native Galicia and Spain, and around the world.
