Documentary Holiday 2023 - Show Your December Holiday Images - Any Kind - No Restrictions

So what do I mean?
Show nativity, Christmas, Kwanza, Hannukah, or any other holiday stuff you want, religious, secular - no restrictions! Just share some great images!

We had such a good response to the Halloween 2023.

You may be asking yourself, why so early? Well, I'm already have seen some Christmas lights up from a week ago and some nativity scenes are up now as well.

Here are some images from a walk about downtown Columbus on 10/29. Enjoy and contribute as much or as little as you like. Above all - just make sure to have fun with it.
One Catholic church already had a giant nativity scene up, so I decided to concentrate on the specific elements of it.

Went to the Phoenix, Arizona Zoo for a light display they put on every year between Thanksgiving and Christmas called "Zoo Lights."

I know i bang on about it...still goes to show from your images..we still can take great images with so-called old/ budget systems! M4/3rds still up to snuff

It might just be me...but there just seems to be something very sterile about the modern imaging pipelines. They are good color, great sharpness and contrast...but I feel they just lack character because they are trying to be perfect. Maybe lack is not the right term, perhaps more that the character is closer to exactly what I see and less about how I felt about it - thus I post process to have to add into the image more of the "feeling".

Other systems with "compromises" just seem to make me feel something different about them and the images they produce. I've always been fascinated by the concept of wabi-sabi (finding the beauty in those things that are imperfect and understanding that nothing is ever truly perfect). m43 is that way for me, and I think that is why I am enjoying the day top day shooting experience of the Minolta Maxxum 7D or the Pentax K-3 and the "vintage" or "legacy" lenses.

Between Thanksgiving and New Year, the Bellevue Botanical Garden puts on a holiday light show. Completely secular, very nature oriented.

I've been a few times. This was the first time I brought a camera. Show seemed smaller this year. It must take an army of people to string up that many lights. I suspect that army scattered somewhat during Covid and it's probably hard to put back together.

After watching the lights we went downtown for dinner. As you'd imagine, that was all decked out for the commercial holidays.

w 3 wheeler? Fools n horses about as crimbo as it gets for me! Most brits looked forward to their xmas special every year!
