Advice Wanted How do YOU use dual card slots?

I'm weird: I don't reuse SD cards. I fill them up, then file them away.

My second slot therefore holds a second card, that I'll use once the first one is full. Or if another camera's card gets full.

Hmmmm, Bastian.

Isn't that what HDDs are for?
Bastian, you're not the first person I've heard that does that. Technically the old backup rule is 3-2-1, so you are closer to that than many.

3 - copies
2 - different media
1 - offsite

So if you store the cards offsite, even better.

You're not wrong. And I certainly have one of those. In a raid NAS, no less.

But I also have a little wooden box my daughter made in kindergarten that contains all the SD cards I've ever filled. They're all labeled with camera and year, and it's weirdly satisfying to root through them to find a particular picture.

I only use two or three cards a year anyway, and they're cheap. What can I say, it makes me happy 🤷.

Currently my two card cameras are the Gh6/G9II. On the Gh6 CF for video and SD for stills. G9II, same one sd for stills, one SD for video. You can use external SSD on both cameras but here in Oregon, most of year it is just too wet IMHO.
