This piece was published back in May. Since then, Yahoo has agreed to sell all but its Japan business and stake in China's Alibaba to Verizon. I wonder what the future of Flickr will be under Verizon? Does it even matter?

I was on Yahoo in the 1990s. I dropped them five years ago because they couldn't seem to do anything about the constant e-mail account hackings. They couldn't even get the basics right. Last month, I dropped Verizon as my landline and mobile phone company as well. Too much cost for not enough benefit. That might say it all.

I agree you Luke, sad story. And latest today I recognised that Flickr apps and site are quite poor in mobile use. Almost impossible to make things happen and I've been in the business from very beginning of html...

Its a shame because Flickr used to be good but the apps are terrible, I half wonder if it might end up spun off or sold out of Verizon, I tend to use 500px now but I'm sure I'm missing other alternatives too.

I use Ipernity. The UI is just like Flickr used to be when it was good. I'm also using 500px for mono, Instagram for publicity and Photocrowd to win stuff
