I should have cleared everything last night after the snow stopped. Sleet and freezing rain overnight turned the light fluffy stuff into a dense mushy mess. I spent all morning working off and on to clear off the sidewalk and one side of our long driveway. Heavy stuff. Using the wheelbarrow made the job a little easier.

It was a frosty morning here as well, with a sunny but chilly afternoon now.

There's some snow expected tomorrow, so we've been given another 'code yellow' weather warning.

Local weather guru informed us that the huge winter storm that has hammered most of the eastern US deposited more snow in a 3 day period in our region than the entire winters of 21-22 and 22-23, with another round rolling in Friday. Our winters have mostly not been severe in recent years - I guess we were due.

30°+ C here for weeks and weeks ...

Vacuumed all the crap that Kreepy missed today, as eucalypts always shed old leaves in preparation for a hot spell.

We also need a new pool cleaner, as the Kreepy Krauly was inherited when we bought the house in 2006. In the interim, we have worn out a different one, which has stripped its gears and needs replacing.

Minus 4°C overnight and it won't get much above zero today. It looks lovely outside, so we'll be going for a walk later.

I think that was the last of the cold nights in this area. When it gets down to about -5°C I leave the central heating running all night as a precaution against freezing pipes in our downstairs shower room. It gets pretty cold in there and did freeze once or twice before I learnt to leave the door open at night, and the heating running. So I can stop doing that for the time being.
