Look what I got to do this morning. We got another 4" (10cm) overnight, but it was a light fluffy layer that was much easier to clear than the earlier batch. I'm running out of places to dump the snow from the wheekbarrow.

Beware the widow maker as it's called around here.

I do take breaks from shoveling if I begin to feel tired, but I also try to keep my heart in good shape. I exercise 30 minutes a day as much as possible, and I just had a full cardiac screening.

Then it freezes at night and there is ice everywhere.

The sun came out and the temp got into the low 40s F, so I threw open the garage and took care of some routine maintenance on my thickness planer. My garage was still cold.

Well getting down to 5F (-14C) this morning for a low and 24F (-4C) for a high. Saturday its supposed to jump to 45F for a high and sunday right back to single digits. And yet no real snow. COld without snow is just pathetic.

The Polar Vortex is back. Low single digits F last night, and 19F when I took this image late morning.

Slight thaw during the past couple of days, but don't let the sun fool you. A steady brisk wind kept things feeling a lot cooler than the official temperature, and the thermometer dipped sharply the last two nights. Sunday night begins the real freeze, with as low as -2F for 3 days, and wind chill in the -20s F!

3°C now, clear and dropping. We may hit negative numbers this weekend for the first time this season. In this weather pattern an inversion may form meaning close to freezing murk at the surface but go up 1000m and be 10°C in the sunshine.

Woke up to a dusting of new snow and 30F. Temperature is supposed to drop significantly this afternoon in what weather types are calling a flash freeze, with the area in blue staying bitterly cold through Wednesday. I live about 30 minutes west of Charleston.

In a few days it will change, too rain

The forecast after that is cloudy, a bit of sun and a bit of rain. Which imo means that the weather forecast has no idea, but prefers to have a positive outlook.

Overcast, low wind and around freezing....that's pretty much the whole month so far.

Gave me time to clean the house a bit over the weekend, work on restoring a Graflex Combat 70 and play some video games.
