How's weather at your place?

It's been so dry here and my three water butts were all empty.
Two are fed off the greenhouse roof, so take an age to ever fill up.
The third is fed by the rear house roof and with a good downpour can get filled in minutes.
So, as it's been pelting down with rain all morning, I volunteered to empty the full one, one watering can at a time and pour the contents into the empty butts.
Anyone watching me get soaked to the skin while carrying out this procedure must think I'm crazy.
Well actually...........:coco:

Have you tried using a 1 inch plastic tube as a siphon, Brian? Would be far easier than a watering can.

A more permanent approach would be a 40mm swimming pool uPVC pipe, buried, with a stopcock. That should self prime. It's also readily available and cheap.

Not where I'm at, but where family is, they've had so much rain the ground saturated and then a couple months' worth of rain in two days has most of the state has been flooding. At least one dam is in danger of being topped. All this water is draining out of the state and will be impacting other states over the next few days. New York and New Hampshire are also affected. And more heavy rain forecasted for later this week and weekend.

My older sister called this morning, the creek is over the bridge on both ends of the road so she's stuck at home until the water recedes and the bridges are checked.

Not where sis lives, but other relatives do.

Report on the State.

While it's been snowing in Johannesburg (far from us and at a much higher altitude) I was able to see snow on the highest peaks in the distance here in Cape Town (3 deg C during last night)

Not mine - I've seen this posted multiple places on the web, seems accurate... I'd be between Tucson and Earth LOL. Death Valley would be inside Yuma's orbit.

I went to the weather site to check when storms might move in today.

The weather reporting station most local to me has us at 102°F at 1100.

It's going to be a wee bit toasty today. :coffee-79:

Since I haven't stopped by this website for several years, I thought I'd tease you all a bit. Yesterday and today have been the stuff of dreams weather-wise. High of about 77 degrees, but with a nice breeze to keep one from sweating. Mostly sunshine with a few fluffy, beautiful clouds.

I hope all my old photography pals are doing well and only making great captures, perfectly exposed.

Hey - good to see ya.

When we get that sort of weather here, Bobby, the Bureau of Meteorology usually forecasts something like "occasional showers" ...

The University of Queensland did a study of BoM forecasts, and found that if they stated "Just like yesterday", their forecasts would be more accurate ...

Only topped at 104°F, clouds moved in and partially blocked the sun for a while.

The heat thing is kinda a long-running joke in the SW. We know other places get as hot, and some hotter, but most visitors don't seem to be prepared for it. We have heat injuries and deaths here in the dry spaces each year. When I lived in Nevada, there were summers it was hot enough in the day that after a few days Las Vegas morning low would be 100°F or higher due to all the steel concrete and asphalt radiating the daytime heat back into the air over night. Tourists could be flabbergasted.

Might get a chuckle from some of you.
