For the past few weeks in Southern Oregon, we have been getting vast - and generally unhealthy - amounts of smoke pollution from the massive wildfires that are currently burning across much of Oregon and the neighboring state of California. The actual visible pollution varies from day to day and sometimes from hour to hour, depending on how and whether the local winds are blowing the peripheral smoke from the fires towards us or away from us. This evening, for a few hours before sunset, it mostly cleared up - enough for a nice walk up the rural road next to my house. But in the distance, on the horizon, a heavy pall of the wildfire smoke was visible---
And surprisingly enough, looking at it... it was quite beautiful, in a way.
Fortunately I had a decent camera with me. This is what I saw - or, rather, this is what the Zeiss lens on my RX10M4 'saw'---

Not feeling worse Sue as I somehow managed to make it out and am now in London. The attitude and rules here (and pretty much most places in the world) differ greatly in that there's no lockdowns as, unlike Australia, all the vaccines have been available on tap and on every high street. I see Gladys' press conferences and wince as this affects my friends and family in Australia. I'm just grateful for your sake that the Hunter community where you are very supportive of one another during these stressful times.@rayvonn must be feeling even worse, I think Sydney is now on about 9 weeks of it, with no end in sight.
