How's weather at your place?

Beautiful spring day coming up here, 21°C.

Also, after 5 months of enquiries, I get my first COVID-19 vaccination today (I have peculiar reactions to most medications ... ). Both my allergist and rheumatologist/immunologist recommend the Astra Zeneca vaccine, with a number of precautions for my particular situation.

They also stated that it is a 'better' vaccine than others, based on their expert knowledge and experience. Since both are very experienced and careful specialists, I have considerable confidence in their opinions and advice.

I'm hoping that it goes well for me.
Next morning. No real reaction so far. However, I've learned from experience that it always pays for me to be exceptionally careful with these things.

I'm very glad to be on the way to being vaccinated at long last. I've been an advocate of this since we have had vaccines available.

My wife is fully vaccinated now.

Thanks for your good wishes, everyone.

To anyone who is hesitant about this vaccine, just do it! Unless you have medical reasons for delay, as I had.

If you are going to react badly it should happen sometime between day 4 and day 28. Good luck, John.
Thanks, Sue.

I'm still here at day 4. Hoping to be here at day 28.

The way my heart's been behaving, I'm hoping to reach the hospital by car on Monday morning (6th) for my second cardiac ablation, rather than by ambulance in the interim.
Yesterday it hit a personal best for recently of 148 bpm at rest. Today it seems to be 'happy' at 47 bpm ...

My pacemaker is set for a minimum of 60 bpm while awake, so something is very much amiss!

Certainly is. Hope you get it sorted PDQ. Mine varies a lot too but I dont have a pacemaker… fortunately the speedy times are relatively quick, and never last long enough for detection by home gadgets.
Yeah, strikes me as being a good idea, Sue! I would have been done last Friday except that I needed a COVID-19 test. Had that on the way home (Thursday), and clear result on Friday morning. Been in isolation since the test.

My cardiologist is head of cardiology at the Baker Institute, Alfred Heart Centre and Cabrini Malvern, so I'm in pretty competent hands. Ablation will be done tomorrow morning (Monday) at Melbourne Private. I'm more twitchy about it than I might seem ...

My blood pressure monitor is extremely sensitive to mis-timed beats. It's a professional medical grade monitor, of a level that is used in cardiac wards.

What irritates both my cardiologist (and me ... ) is that I have a bedside monitor that interrogates my pacemaker every night, and transmits the data for examination. Someone hasn't bothered to check this since JUNE!

After a disappointing August, it's turned warm again for a few days and it's absolutely lovely. The fine weather should last until Wednesday, which happens to be my birthday.

Same here - we're having a sniff of the summer that wasn't; even though the rain may be back later in the week, the warm temperatures seem to want to persist ... an unexpected but welcome time of respite.

Everything was optimal :D:drinks:. No dual septum puncture needed, thank god!

The Heparin also fixed the pain in my legs after the COVID-19 vaccination.

Just covered in cardio dots adhesive, a very sore throat and bruised tongue. Massive bruising in my groin. I'm alive, and can still talk, so all good so far.

I foresee lots of medical appointments and blood tests in my immediate future ...

The weather has been outstanding here the past week, with chilly mornings and warm, sunny, comfortable days, often with a mild breeze blowing. Great for bike riding and open air woodworking. That changes tomorrow with the early arrival of our usual October rains, expected to last several days. It didn't really need it, but I mowed our lawn today in case of a late season rain-inspired growth spurt.

We have been blessed by warm and beautiful October, so far

Just a follow up. Saw my cardiologist day before yesterday. No arrhythmia at all since the latest ablation. Blood pressure is more stable than it has been since 2003. Pulse is regular and normal.

And I had my second COVID-19 vaccination yesterday (Astra Zeneca). All good, and just need to stay out of the firing line for the next 14 days, then normal precautions will apply.

Stay safe and well, everybody.

We have been blessed with a run of nice weather the past couple of weeks, with chilly, even frosty, nights and sunny days warming into the mid to high 60s F, even topping 70F one day. This time last year I was confined to the house with a broken foot when we had a similar run of weather, so this year I've been getting out for long bike rides often. Cold and rain returns tomorrow, and will last through at least Monday. Say goodbye to the rest of the colorful foliage.

Yep, we're definitely into our "cold, wet, and windy" transition from the better Autumn weather. Mostly gloomy, but the sun still appears every now and again to make the colors in the remaining foliage glow brightly. Although we are well past peak, there's still a lot of nice foliage hanging around . . . at least until the wind gets its way.

Ugh! Vancouver's getting hammered with high winds and torrential rainfall - then it stopped raining for the afternoon (at least around downtown) and we got a little sunshine at one point. I can see the moon breaking through the cloud cover right now. The Lower Mainland is pretty much cut off from the BC Interior, with stranded motorists being rescued at washed out/flooded/blocked highways and at least one town has been totally evacuated.
We had a 6-week heat dome in June and July, massive forest fires again this Summer and some of the flooding is washing through the burned out areas with no vegetation to stop the wall of water and debris.
