The impressive tree is undoubtedly one of the most interesting natural monuments in Bavaria/Germany. It has an age of over a thousand years and is popularly called „Rasierpinselbaum“/„Shaving Brush Tree“ or „Hüter des Feldes“ / „guardian of the field“.

Beautiful tree! It looks like old alien hands raised in supplication.

I don't know why but somehow I am yearning for more horizon (is that the right term?) on the first shot -- would have wanted the shot much wider.
 
Thank you! I agree, but the Fuji X20 only has a minimum focal length of 28 mm :(
Perhaps, a panorama would still be possible.

My first thought after the beauty of both views, was of The Whomping Willow in the Harry Potter series.Very cool looking tree, indeed!
 
Wow, great shot of a superb tree with history.

I do enjoy shooting trees myself as they have that magical yet majestic presence and have survived the ravages of nature & man.
