interesting article about film vs. digital (as relates to cinematography)

Excellent write up, I always enjoy Polygon. It almost sounds like this guy is delving into the same science that creators of film simulations do, except that while most film simulations seem to focus on grain and color alone, this is also taking transitions into account, and I think transitions are where film is most interesting, possibly even more so than color. As we get more robust tech we get more options for handling transitions, like highlight rolloff.

Fascinating. Although I would disagree with the statements made that the process is technology agnostic as it replaces film.
A great read nonetheless.
