I was working with pictures from the Minolta Maxxum 7D and Minolta 135mm lens today.
Ran the RAW files through Lightroom, but decided to see about using Topaz Photo AI for the sharpening.
Topaz Photo AI auto detects and states what it thinks it needs to do. To my surprise, for a lot of the images it selected to do upscaling only. Note that the 7D is a 6mp camera.
Topaz chose to do a 1x upscale. To my surprise, the images with just the ups along looked much more natural than trying to use the Sharpen module or the Denoise module.
I’ll post some before and after pics later, but if you have Topaz Photo AI, check out just doing an upscale and see if you get the same results I did. You get a well sharpened/low noise raw file processed and the final output is more the size of a 12mp image.
