Introducing Serious Compacts' 2 new Super Moderators - deirdre and olli!

Thanks, and welcome olli!

My dad was the high school photography geek (still has his Retina II) and my mom had some serious Nikon gear and occasionally got photos published in the local paper. Dad went on to become a particle physicist, and my mom worked in the lab, which is how they met. He's now retired, she's now working as a technical writer.

I've had an on-again-off-again affair with expensive cameras, but it was something I read recently that made me realize I needed it to stay "on": someone (I forget who, sorry) said it was a way for them to be out and active.

I'm kind of a reclusive geek and my health has begun to reflect that, so I very much needed to find a reason to be outdoors and active more.

I currently own:
Panasonic GF1 with 20mm and 45mm lenses as well as a Canon FD 50mm lens
Nikonos V with 35mm lens
Leica M8 with vintage 50mm Summitar and 28mm Voigtlander f/1.9
iPhone 4
