The Leica red dot, that is.
I did a separate post here asking for some gear recommendation after i found myself almost camera-less (my trusty GR is always with me) and I was eyeing the Sony cameras...anyway, I decided that if i was going to part ways with my m43 gear and go into the "tricky mess" that mirrorless APSC is (to me) i decided i was going to invest in the best glass i could afford till i can get a FF compact. Leica enters the game. I decided not to buy their cameras, although they are the only fully working FF mirrorless at the moment, but i know that not for long...so I found a great "deal" that will have me eating a porridge diet for almost a year because of a 35 "lux".
Since i couldnt find much information about the NEX bodies with m glass, other that the NEX7 has "problems" with anything wider than 35mm (same as the A7/r?) but the new NEX6 had those problems fixed and 16mbpx is more than enough to get big enough prints and for my purposes. So...
now i have my compact "50mm combo" that i was wanting. NEX6 + 35 lux. I must say the whole thing is small. and the IQ it can pull is some of the best ive seen.
I was never big fan of the luxury prices of Leica, though i always wanted to try one, and never have till now. I own this lens now and understood a lot of things. This lens, is impressive to say at least.
anyway, so today i came back home walking just to try the lens. and the camera of course.
I should say that i had absolutely none expectations about the NEX6 and im surprised it haven't got much more attention. I think ergonomically is way better than the Panasonic GX7 and smaller, not bigger in size than a OMD EM5. The VF is better than the OMD EM5 but not as big as the VF3, so for me its simply brilliant.
Menus are a bit "too playstation-computer like" and not "photographic driven" whatsoever, yet simple enough not to be complicated.
Now onto what matters most, performance and IQ...im blown. This combo, which gives me a 52mm F2 (DOF) equivalent... is none but brilliant.
Please mind that this photos are just absolute random snaps on my way home and are not intended to be anything else...
You can see on the first shots the "leica pop" people talk about. I should also point that this is the first camera other than Oylmpus that im really loving its colors. beautiful!.
For the gear-heads. All images processed in LR5.2, "Hombrewed" B/W preset and some "custom" color preset based on some VSCO presets.
