Leica Just fooling around (X Vario)

So I'm back at Fort Leonard Wood, MO for two weeks of military training. Last time I brought an M9 (returned it because of sensor issues), and this time I brought the X Vario. I was actually concerned that I would miss interchangeable lenses and fast apertures, but so far I'm enjoying the convenience, light weight and stellar image quality of the XV. Now, if I could just find the time for a proper photo walk. Color images were exported from LR5 with minimal post, B&W are straight OOC JPEG (high contrast B&W, S Fine).

You've found the allure of the X Vario - it's much more of a great camera than just its features set suggests. There's a new firmware version for it, be sure yoiu have that.

My X-Vario needs a sensor clean, something I need to send it in for, ugh. There's a small hair or such peeking down into the top of the frame that I have to remove in post.

Great shots, I'd look forward to a walk around that old trailer park lot. :)

I've done the firmware update and the camera is fantastic. Handles great, superb image quality and I love the freedom FROM interchangeable lenses.

A few shots from last weekend around the house. Leica X Vario at ISO 100, no post, LR5 export

I love the old fence shot.

Of late I've begun to stage my shots a bit - such as going down and pushing that red cart out of the shot, or bending over some weed or such that's in the foreground. :)

It's funny how you get attached to a "grab and go" camera for taking a quick stroll, or just shooting some shots. I end up grabbing the M8 for the high shutter speed, shoot wide-open in full daylight.

And another day of fog. Left earlier than usual this morning to get some fog AND darkness. Here are the railroad tracks behind the parking lot at the Superior Court in Bakersfield, CA early this morning.

As I've said before, the X Vario is more than adequate even in underwhelming light. My M Monochrom is off to Leica for a three weeks or so (sensor cleaning and general checkup), so it will be mostly X Vario (and some occasional Df and film) for the next month or so.

Anyway, here goes.
