Kansas' Flint Hills

In the middle of the State, we have a series of hills that stretch for miles with little or no inhabitants but animals. Mainly cows but lately we have become a haven for wild horses that have been transferred here and also some who have been born here. Hundreds of beautiful animals will stand for a photo if you are careful, quiet, and slow-moving. Today, we decided to travel 50 miles or so to see what we could see. I love the Flint Hills. It's really hard to capture its beauty with a camera. The terrain is more rolling and interesting than photos show, but the vastness of the prairie grass can really make it hard to capture depth. Those unpaved side roads are murder on street tires. Flint is great for arrowheads, not so good for rubber!
