LOL.

Houston treated us royally after Katrina, but it's not the most scenic place in the world. ;)
After Katrina, you saw Houston at its best. We received assistance when we needed it after Harvey. We had 57" of rain at our house. Fortunately, the drainage system in our area worked as designed. But it has also been improved since as there were some areas that flooded.

I am a native and I will be the first to tell you it is generally an ugly city. We have our bright spots though. Mies Van Der Rohe's last project was at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. It was an expansion to his previous addition to the building. He did not live to see the project completed. We also have buildings by IM Pei, Renzo Piano, Philip Johnson. Thanks to the generosity of Jon and Dominique Menil, we have the Menil Collection (Renzo Piano designed building) and the Rothko Chapel. If you look around downtown, there are quite a few interesting buildings. There are also some butt ugly McMansions that would be worthy of being posted on the Ugly Architecture thread but I wont waste the electrons on them.

I revisited the 1940 Air Terminal Museum today to get a better shot from the apron of the Lockheed Loadstar and the Terminal Building. The volunteer was nice enough to remove all of the safety cones and wheel chocks. Being a photographer, he understood the value in not having unnecessary clutter in the frame.
