Lucy, Mummy and Aunty Ro ....

The whole thing is a double decker?! What kind of plane is this? A 747 replacement?

Airbus A380. 800+ passengers in economy. They've been flying for a good while now. Emirates invested in so many of them (116) that they were said to keep ordering them just so that Airbus kept the line running and made new spares.

They don't make much sense in 2023 when modern twin engined aircraft like the 777/787 are cheaper to fly and reliable enough to cross oceans.

The A380 will never replace the 747. Ex. passenger 747s can be adapted with a swing up nose and are brilliant for cargo. The double deck A380 is impractical as a cargo plane.

Ugh. Show me a single airport gate that can sit 800 people while they wait to board 🙄

Quite unsettling for me as a passenger how silent and seemingly unresponsive the A380 is as it takes off. Then again that wobble after a 747 took off was also unsettling. But once in the air, if you're lucky enough to get a seat in the middle/ front of an A380, nothing can beat it for comfort on long haul flights.

A few from Sunday Shere Hill Climb. We went with our friends who were sponsoring this event. They have a specialist garage that can actually make parts for new and vintage cars and rolling road for diagnostics. These are all manual focussed which may have a been a bit of a mistake. I didn't realise that my husband would be offered a ride in their own entry, a Riley with a newer more powerful engine and he was expecting me to photograph him at the start of the climb. Got a few by using the fastest frame rate and manual focusing but it wasn't ideal!

Another lovely set.

A question. Your colours look persistently fabulous on my mac. Are you posting JPEGs from source or are you using Leica camera profiles in Lightroom or similar?

I use many different colour profiles. Mostly Mastin as they are the easiest to use. These are the Kodak Gold profiles with some tweaks here and there on my raw files. The Leica jpegs are quite nice but I find them a bit crispy! As far as I know there are no camera profiles for the SL2s in Lightroom at present.

Whatever it is you are using, you are using them very well. Thank you for the info.

Ok, well that's about four years earlier than me. She swimming too?
She does not like swimming. Is booked on a weekend course beginning this coming Saturday and is already saying she doesn't want to go! She was taken to classes as a baby but was the only one to refuse to put her head under the water ..... and who could blame her ! Anyway she's got to learn so ....
