So I got a new to me S1 and quite like shooting with it. There is a Voigtlander40mm f/1.4 MC @f2 on it, but I just feel like there is some sort of shutter shock or something.
I must be doing something wrong as I feel there is some motion blur in most pics even with IBIS on etc..

Am I expecting too much here?

There is definitely blur in these although it looks like a fast shutter speed and a reasonable aperture. On the Leica SL2s I use a single focus point and magnify from there and usually get focus where I want it. Sorry I can't be of any help!

I know this is an old post, but, just in case the problem isn't solved yet, you could try the electronic shutter (I don't have a Panasonic S1, but I'm sure it'll have an electronic shutter).

You have set the IBIS to the right focal length haven’t you? Maybe a dumb question, but thought I’d ask.

To get the bottom of the problem, I suggest you bolt the camera on a tripod, turn IBIS off and then do some tests at f11 (to avoid lens focus/sharpness dependencies) using both electronic shutter and mechanical shutter. That will at least rule out shutter shock as a cause (but I’ve never had issues with my S1R and I’ve never read anything about shutter shock in the S1 before).

If that’s sharp, try taking shots handheld, both with IBIS and without. Obviously a fast shutter speed will be needed. That will tell you if you have IBIS issues (although even with IBIS off, the mechanism is still active - just holding the sensor static).

Finally, try another lens. It’s possible what you’re seeing is an optical problem.

Hope that helps!
