The QRP HF rig:

The actual radio is the middle box, it sits on a tilting bracket, which count for the 5 cm/2 inch gap between the power supply and the radio.

Whats on the shelf there is the entire HF station with the antenna and the tripod for that. Lacking from the picture are some cabling and a bracket that mounts on the tripod and which the antenna then mounts on. That little thing should in good circumstances and with the right antenna, leave me able to talk to Europe, no worries, the US/Canada and at least the near/middle East. As I dive into it, there will be more pictures.

I also note that a dusting of the shelves is needed.

My wife's 8 y.o. Lenovo is on "life support", it took 5+ attempts to start it about 6 days ago, so has been permanently switched on and plugged in since.

Day before yesterday I bought her a new tablet (same as mine, top of the range Lenovo Android 12). It would not update the firmware, so went back as DOA. Officeworks replaced it with a new one, delivered yesterday. Having spent 8 hours unsuccessfully trying to set up the first one, I spent 5 hours yesterday successfully setting up the replacement and transferring much of her data.

It's got an 8 core CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB storage and a card slot that takes up to a 1 TB micro-SD card (currently occupied by the 64 GB card from her old tablet). 11 inch IPS screen, 2000x1200. USB3/USB-C for all input/output. Fast network chip (~750 Mbps).

Full specs here:

She's happy.

I tried this chair out at a trade show earlier this week, and it was amazing. I thought it would go great in my new place, so it’s being delivered to it next month. Thank goodness for a generous employee discount, as it was over $3,000 off, making it a relatively palatable expense. Hell, it’ll pay for itself after about 10 or so massages!

I'm sorry but if I ever had that I would never leave the house. They (anyone) would probably find me like this:

Vaer R1 Chrono in Cream with Tan Horween strap might be inbound sometime the next week or three... :hiding:

The C3 Traditions will wait until I see what (if any) changes have been made to the new run.

@gordo do you collect watches?

Hi Herman.

No, not a collector.

I'm just tired of cheap watches that break and cost more to repair than replace, and tired of pulling a phone out of the pocket and monkey with it to do something that should be a simple turn of the wrist and a glance.

So, I've been on a quest for a couple or 4 of the elusive nice and dependable but not too expensive watches.

Vaer seems to be scratching that itch right now. I guess I'll see over the span of time. :)

Installed it yourself; you mean you took it out of the box and plugged it in to a socket on the wall? So where does the 'money for nothing' thought come from?
Dire Straits' 1985 song, 'Money for Nothing', includes these lyrics:

We got to install microwave ovens
Custom kitchen deliveries
We got to move these refrigerators
We got to move these colour TVs

Official video is here

And the tune's been going through my head since I read this thread this morning!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! Maybe installed the refrigerator was a bit of an overstatement, but I did move it just as the song lyrics say. And I did swap the hinges from the left to the right side, so some tools and sweat were involved! (Of course I live in Florida so just standing in a garage for 30 seconds during the summer is enough to make me sweat.)

Only took 10 days, but a small package finally arrived. Been having problems finding affordable straps that fit for the Timex Mechanical Field. I didn't want to spend much on this watch as I'll no longer be able to wind it at some point going forward. Ordered a rubber strap and leather strap directly from Timex. Less expensive than some other options, they match the watch better IMHO, and the length is better (not too long) for me. Now to see which one wears better.

Well I've wanted to do this for a very long time but I kept postponing it till no end ... Until yesterday:

I bought a dirt cheap Vodafone tablet, 8.9 inch on the old Android 5.1 version, for about 25 quid. I downloaded Fotoo app, turned the Sleep Time off on Charge, put it in Airplane mode, loaded it up with over 500 pictures of my little princess, opened the Fotoo app and now I have a permanent slideshow Digital Photo Frame.

I can even set up how the slideshows works and put it in schedule (though I will leave it on 24/7 for the 7 W of electricity it used from the power socket).

Luckily I already had a phone stand that I wasn't using (a tablet stand costs about 10 to 15 quid), I already had a 4x Type A USB charger and an extra long Micro B USB cable. All in all its a fraction of what the crazies ask for a Digital Photo Frame, for that amount of money or even a bit less you can get a significantly better screen from a old Samsung or Apple iPad tablet. Just make sure it has at least Android 4.4 for the Fotoo app to install and work, but if you want to go even more basic just use any Android stock photo app in Slideshow mode and go with even older tablets. (You don't even need to connect any accounts or to your WiFi/network to make this work, so even ancient devices like this are safe)
