That's what I was thinking as well. I wouldn't want to block all outside sounds when walking the dog. Nor would I want full size cans. I'd probably be looking at AirPods or the non-Apple equivalent.
I used to just have one ear thingy in an ear when out and about. These days I dont do it at all because I cant bear things in my ears, and I have over-ear for home.

My last misc. shiny toy, some 'wireless' charging pads for our phones here at the house...

It's not exactly exciting but, after convincing myself for the past couple of years that I didn't need them, I find them really convenient. Having them on the nightstand next to the bed makes it a lot easier to reach for the phone when it rings in the middle of the night instead of having to remember to unplug it first.

I had to explain to my wife why they're called "wireless" if you still have to plug them in. 🤣

Having a family with three kids lets you appreciate the viciousness that ensues losing, stealing and maintaining ownership of "your" phone charger. All of a sudden these things make sense.

Don't know if I would consider it a "thing" persay, but I'm going to be going on a vacation next week to Las Vegas.

Never been, so Sin City will be new and shiney to me!! Lol
Casino trip or general sight seeing? My wife & I don't really gamble (I don't gamble, she brings a roll of quarters) but Vegas has been on our Travel Wish List for awhile now to see the town and take it all in at least once. I'd love to be able to visit stuff like the neon 'graveyards' and other places.

We don't gamble either. Our goal is to see the sights, shows and eat at Hell's Kitchen.

My impulse purchase for last week: red laser pointer for Toby to chase. He loves it, and even after I turn it off he is convinced it hid under the carpet or behind the couch.

Best purchase for last week, a personal weather station which means I now don't need to rely on other stations which upload to Wunderground. I went with Netatmo because Wunderground still had it on their site as recommended and only after I was trying (and failing) to set up did I go to the FAQ and find that Netatmo has separated itself from Wunderground and set up its own weather map. Sadly, its not nearly as good as Wunderground in its presentation, but it is more reliable.

I didn't know that Hell's Kitchen was open as a full-time restaurant, I had always assumed it was just a temporary location for the show. Do any of the contestants from the show cook there?
Does @Kevin often speak in the third person voice? @Luke enjoys doing it himself.
Yes, sometimes @Kevin does do that, he's a conundrum of a man.

Never thought about getting a smartwatch - until I realized I could finally get my dreamwatch.

LG style watch (or any 'Google Wear 2' watch) with Krona Sunlight Watchface:

The whole circle is a 24 hour ring - with a rolling weather forecast for the next 24 hours.
(Short white line marks current time.)

Inner ring indicates daylight - sunrise/sunset.
Thickness of the inner ring is temperature.
Colour of inner ring is condition (overcast -> white; sunny -> yellow)
Outer ring is precipitation. (going to start raining at 6pm / 18.00)

Additional info available on tapping the screen (wind, UV index, humidity, air pressure)

Genius :)

I'm not sure. The wife found out about it and booked reservations for Valentine's Day. I'll report back any interesting factoids.

They all got one with their phones and a spare. I marked them with old fashioned adhesive labelmaker tags on both the brick and the cable ends. They're all old enough that if they lost them, they paid for them out of pocket. Ownership and equipment accountability quickly becomes paramount the first time someone loses a costly quick PD charger. :D

This one is a gift, for my soon-to-be 14-year-old daughter. She is a huge Green Day fan, so when reverb.com opened up a shop of gear used by the band I had to browse. I was tempted by the four and five figure guitars, but I showed restraint.

Ended up buying a pair of Tannoy Reveal 502 monitors that she'll be able to run directly from her phone or laptop. They were owned by Green Day drummer Tre Cool. I paid about a 50% upcharge vs typical used price, but it will be well worth it for the "cool dad" points I get. :)

Technically she is correct. They should call them "semi-wireless".
