Actor Joe Mantegna shot at a VIP event. I do use the MM for commercial assignments to whenever I can.

Allen, thanks. I was just about to ask about the last pic over at the other forum you posted. He looks very familiar. I really love the closeness that the 35 renders, hhhmmm...

As usual your street photos are inspiring.

You saw them here first! Got my M Monochrom yesterday, and these were shot pre-dawn this morning (first two) and mid-morning.

Straight OOC JEPGS, no post (because I don't yet know how) using Leica Elmarit-M 28mm f/2.8 ASPH for the dog, Leica Summarit-M 35mm f/2.5 for the city at night. Wide open on the two night shots, somewhere around f/5.6 or f/8 for the dog.

I'm set up for a private lesson in post-processing this Sunday, and between that and learning how to take advantage of the Monochrom's capabilities I expect some rapid improvement. Don't worry about my feelings, I know these aren't great, but they were fun to shoot with my new toy.

i know where that 2nd shot is... you shoot DTLA often?

You are off to a great start!

I do very little post-processing, carry a deep-yellow, orange, and red filter to apply "optical pre-processing". Outdoors, the Orange filter is a good start. Indoors, almost no need for one under Tungsten. It's fun to experiment again.

Using a rangefinder is a bit different from an SLR and Mirrorless. I started using Rangefinders at age 11. Spent the Summer of '69 mowing lawns.

For critical focus, a 1.25x magnifier helps. I use one like this one:

1 25x for Leica M M3 M6 M7 M8 M9P 50mm 75mm 90mm 135mm F1 2 1 4 2 8 4 Lens Black | eBay

I also have the much more expensive Leica 1.25x magnifier, bought used.

Leica Viewfinder Magnifier M 1 25x Loupe Sucherlupe Boxed for M9 M8 M7 M6 MP | eBay

I do not see much difference between the two in actual use.

Doesn't that take away your 35mm and 28mm framelines though?

35mm is my most used focal length, but fortunately even wide-open my Summarit at f/2.5 has enough depth of field even in close to cover an inch or two of operator error.

On the skateboard sign, my real problem was that I just focused on the right side of the sign and forgot to consider the different distance of each edge from the sensor.
