I adore my Q; I picked up a well worn copy for cheap a few months ago: my first Leica, and my first mirrorless after shooting DSLRs for decades. It handles so perfectly and that lensā€¦ I find 28mm to be a really interesting focal length, especially for portraiture. I find the colors in JPEG to be very pleasing, and of course itā€™s as easy to process DNG as any other RAW file

I picked up a Q typ 116 a few weeks ago and have shot with it locally quite a bit. It's my first Leica and so far I am very impressed. I am worried about taking it out in the rain { we have a fair bit in the UK ) although I have taken other non weather seald cameras out and not had any issues. Of course I have been careful but they have got wet from time to time, I always wipe them dry asap.
My question is, have any of you taken yours out in inclement weather, and how does it fair? It seems a shame to limit myself to just dry weather as it is such a joy to use. I don't like to wrap my gear in cotton wool but do take good care of it. Reviews seem to make a big deal of the lack of sealing. Surely it can't be so bad as to put it away every time it looks like rain.
Any observations would be greatly appreciated.

Just two personal observations:

1) Apart from the small number of dedicated underwater compacts from Olympus/ Ricoh, I highly doubt claims from most manufacturers that their cameras truly are weather sealed. Alright, I have taken out my Z6 and Z prime out when it's raining, it's claimed they're both weather sealed and they've been flawless - so far. But I haven't made a habit of it, am under no illusions and won't get angry if water does somehow get inside and disturb operations; and

2) I like use an umbrella when it raining anyway regardless - it's actually good fun and you still get the shot.

I have a Q-P and don't really take it out in any major downpour conditions, but it has gotten a few drops of rain and snow on it over the past couple of years. No issues, but I do try to shelter it wherever possible, under a jacket or umbrella.

With the prices on the Q2 dropping, due to the Q3, I have been eyeing one of those. I actually have one I am looking at and may pick up this weekend, if I can get a good price on it.

The weather-sealing is the main draw, but also the simplified button layout, menus, better AF, and larger megapixels for cropping tighter when needed.

Plus the original Q. Just because it's superseded a number of times doesn't mean it's going to be bad.

100%. Leica really nailed it with these cameras. The original is so good, with the 2 (weather sealing) and 3 (tilt LCD and usb-c) offering nice upgrades, but nothing that are absolute must haves.

If the budget allows, any of the Qā€™s offer so much in a relatively compact package.

Ended up picking up the Q2 today. Seller worked with me on the price, to bring it down to a reasonable level.

It'll be hard to list the beautiful Q-P, when I inevitably do as I can't afford to keep both, but looking forward to the added features the Q2 brings.

Crappy phone pic attached.
