I picked up a Q typ 116 a few weeks ago and have shot with it locally quite a bit. It's my first Leica and so far I am very impressed. I am worried about taking it out in the rain { we have a fair bit in the UK ) although I have taken other non weather seald cameras out and not had any issues. Of course I have been careful but they have got wet from time to time, I always wipe them dry asap.
My question is, have any of you taken yours out in inclement weather, and how does it fair? It seems a shame to limit myself to just dry weather as it is such a joy to use. I don't like to wrap my gear in cotton wool but do take good care of it. Reviews seem to make a big deal of the lack of sealing. Surely it can't be so bad as to put it away every time it looks like rain.
Any observations would be greatly appreciated.
During the very late 1950s, I had an M3 with the f2.8 Elmar. From time to time I used it whilst it was raining, (I lived in Manchester then), and never had any issues. I cared for it as you do yours Harry, so I would suggest you using yours also when the weather is inclement if so desired. Just so long as you don't immerse it!
