First pics using L fit Sigma 40mm 1.4 Art. This really is very heavy but seems to balance well. Using my left hand to support the Weight but maybe not a lens to take anywhere for casual shooting.

Af isn't too bad .... I haven't got the latest firmware on the SL2s yet so may improve at some point. Trying to get to grips with this lens. My thoughts are that it's very sharp ( turned sharpening off here) but also it's somewhat sterile in it's rendering.

Sue, while I think it's a very fine lens, it's 45mm f/2.8 C stablemate might be more to your liking. It has a more "classic" rendering - it can be very sharp, but transitions are smooth, and results very pleasing. The only lens I regret having sold (or rather, having had to sell because I ran out of bodies to use it on ...) and would re-buy immediately if I had a means to shoot it.

It's also small, light and comparatively inexpensive. Nothing like the 40mm f/1.4 in terms of prowess, though ... But a worthwhile alternative.

I really don't like it at all .... so will be returning it . Not sure if there are going to be any af lenses with the character I get from the Voigtlander 35 or the 50mm Summilux.

Well that’s not so bad, in fact it’s very good. Renders differently to the Zeiss and Voigtlanders for sure but still works. Great image!

That's the b & w jpeg. I like them very much ..... but colour not so much. Maybe I'll give it another try over the weekend. The thing is it's been so grey here in the UK this week. Not a scrap of sun and growing even darker by 2 pm!

Honestly you're cheating a bit. Your subjects are so charming, you could take their photos with any camera and they would still look lovely!

Using spot af. If you get the tiny cross hair target on the eye it's very accurate.

Used the 40mm today. No doubt this is very sharp but I still think a bit too sharp for my needs.
