btw... Leica (camera) is owned by a very wealthy business aristocrat and Leica fanatic. Almost seems like running/ownership of Leica is an extreme hobby of sorts... a very good thing. Its nice to see the owner of a business with passion rather than eyes on profit margins.
and also Cosina is now also owned by a drop dead photography lover. And both companies can't make enough gear to supply demand. It just goes to show that sometimes a passion to make something great can be as successful as make something cheaply.
Many Leica used lenses have doubled in price in the last two years. Wish I'd not waited so long to get my M9. But I'm glad to be supporting the cause.
If I had known, I would have bought as much Leica glass as my savings account could handle.
Stocks.. negative
401k.... red
Leica lenses... the ones I purchased 5-10 years ago are now 2-3x the price in USD I paid for them.
No way to know.. not suppose to happen.... hobbies are pure expense and financial investments were suppose to be secure if done responsibly. These are terrible times for those middle class citizens hitting retirement age. terrible...
btw... the M6 titanium finish was amazing. Well used camera and not a single scratch on it..... whatever process they used the finish is amazingly durable even compared to the traditional chrome.
Here's a tid bit.. The M6 titanium (classic like mine) was actually NOT made from solid blocks of titanium but rather treated with a layer of titanium. The M6 TTL titanium was made from from titanium and so is the recent M9 Titanium. As such, the M6 titanium is often still considered the evil-step-child for collectors and its value pretty much the same as a regular M6. I still enjoyed it though..
