Leica Showcase Leica Summicron M 35f2.0

Might as well post a couple of older photos, from Dec 31. Literally the last time I had some sun and was at home.

Went a bit overboard with the split toning but it's got this fantasyland theme now.

When it's bright it's bright.

Today in particular the similar warm-light-cold-shadows theme was mighty prominent but sadly had to focus on house chores.

The rendering of the 35 V is truly what Leica is about. The 3D pop is curiously not always about sharp subject; I captured many popping items that are actually in front of the focal plane.

This whole "framing with the shadow" thing looks like a cool technique.

This is frankly a pic you could take with any large-sensor camera but here goes.

Posted this elsewhere too but noticed again the same phenomenon as earlier: the 3D pop effect seems to be most pronounced when the subject is slightly in front of the focal plane. This lady being one such frontrunner, very pop. I prefocused on the sign post and then mistimed my shot as I let her walk past the sharpest area. Didn't ruin the shot by mistiming -- I let that happen with my composition. But at least the rendering is stupendous. A heavy crop.

Wow... am I getting that famous Leica glow with this aspherical version 5? 😎

It's only been a few days without shooting the 35, and today I went and shot some. Wow, just for some reason the pictures just feel like another league altogether compared to Voigt ones or 50 Summilux ASPH. The ultimate in 3D pop, superb bokeh, all that.
