Possibly not. from the Leica press release:

This 24 MP, full 35 mm format sensor was designed and constructed in collaboration with CMOSIS especially for the camera and its use with M- and R-Lenses.

And the D600. And the A99. Each manufacturer probably do some "tweaking" (AA filter, on-chip NR, and the like), but IQ should be pretty similar between all those cams.

The geek in me just had to find out about CMOSIS. Here's their site

This leads me to think that it is a custom sensor, which would fit Leica's style, and of course would be expensive. But I suppose it doesn't preclude it being a tweaked Sony sensor.

So what will this thing cost? At what price would you buy one? Would any self-respecting rangefinder photographer be caught dead with an "M" with an EVF attached (or worse, held out at arms length)?

If it means I can attach a macro lens or a real tele. Hell yeah. Not to mention the ultra wides.
