Leica Leica X2

Thought I would see how the X2 does in high-contrast compared to the M Monochrom. I had much more interesting lighting yesterday late afternoon with the M Monochrom than I did this morning with the X2.

First shot is from the X2 DNG, very minor post in LR5 (boosting blacks and contrast, + 1/4 stop exposure) then export to Silver Efex with presets for High Structure Smooth, Ilford Pan F and some light vignetting.

Now one taken yesterday with the M Monochrom with the Carl Zeiss C Sonnar 50mm f/1.5 wide-open with yellow filter. Slightly more post processing.

I hadn't seen the first 4 b&w's (2 MM and 2 X2) until today. The different DOF's and perspectives due to the lenses makes them quite different. It's probably too much to ask, but it would sure be interesting to see the same shots but the MM using a 35 mm lens.

Your wish is my command, but it will have to wait a few days as I am on the road. I have the 35mm Summarit-M which at f/2.5. If I stop the 35mm down to f/4 it should approximate the depth of field of the 24mm on the X2 at f/2.8.

So Leica is having an X picture contest. I haven't used my X2 very much (that Monochrom keeps hogging my bag), but here are a few from my Lightroom archive from the X2. Maybe I'll take the X2 to San Francisco Friday and see what I might see.

Reminds me of a project that Tim would have on Home Improvement.

If this is being restored, would be nice to have follow-up pictures here.
