I recently acquired this lens (black finish) complete with LLL 39mm UV filter and screw in lens hood. Can’t consider the original which seems to attract US$30k at the moment. Took it out for an initial shoot late yesterday.

Nice shooting! Yes, good in mono, good in color. I see that your camera thinks it is a Leica Summicron 1:2/50 Leitz. As this lens does not have 6-bit encoding I am guessing you have set that manually. How did you arrive at that lens profile? Did you test a lot of other profiles?

I just got a copy the other day. Our weather here is about what you would see on a grey card so not much to shoot. We have a serious cyclone passing through. I hope to get out after. Any tips or tricks you have for the Elcan that you would like to share? I coded this as the Summicron-M 50mm f/2.0 V III.

This is the "grey card" weather here today as we await the storm. Shot at F/5.6.

Here is an off-the-wall shot. Six seconds at f/2.0 IIRC. It, and the one following it, are on the north shore of the Columbia by Fort Columbia looking south to the south bank of the river and Oregon. Trust me, the south bank and Oregon are there. ;o) I have been getting fuzzy focus. So I put the LLL diopter adjustment eyepiece on the M9 and it works. Later for them. ;o) The "Elcan" seems pretty good.

Hi boojum, apologise for the ultimate late reply, no excuses just a reason, I missed it. I did no prior tests to arrive at the Summicron setting. It was in the menus, so chose it. Thanks for your feedback.
Cheers, Alan
