Likes & multiple images

There are often times when multiple images are posted. I often find that some images are great and I would give them a "Like" whilst other in the group are not. So I don't want to give a like to the whole group of image just certain ones. Is it possible to like individual images in posts with multiple images? I had a look and could not see anything. Don't know if this is an issue with any other members?

I understand, Rick.

Quote the whole post, then delete the photos you don't like. Comment on the others, as appropriate.

I have not seen a solution, so I either scroll on by with no reaction or do as John suggests.

Nobody asked me but I think the whole reaction system should be taken away. It vastly reduces the social intercourse down to mechanical button clickings.
That's diametrically on the opposite pole of how I feel about it - the reactions show ... well, reactions and that's wonderful and interactive and makes it good to know that someone is enjoying (or not) your work.
We all have busy lives and I'm certainly not going to write an essay on beautiful use of available window light etc on something that catches my eye. I'll leave a LIKE to show that I like it and look at the next one.

Nothing "mechanical" about my button clicking, Mike.
I mostly think carefully before clicking ...

For me:

Like = OK, nice photo.

Cool = Better than just nice.
Better subject, composition and framing, more difficult subject, more technique involved, focus, exposure, etc.

Winner = Has got all, or most of the items in "Cool" well done or exceptionally well done; or at least most of them.

Other categories are more or less self-explanatory, but often subtly change their obvious meaning, depending on content of both the photo/s and the text of a post.

I still reply to many posts that require more than just an emoji, IMO.

The emoji reactions help keep the focus on the images instead of the words in image threads. That alone makes them valuable. I also like the fact that I can quickly assess and react where necessary.

Image threads: focus on images; gear threads: focus on (the merits of) gear; discussion threads: focus on (suitable and respectful) words. Simple (enough).

Emojis: Make your attention and appreciation known or react to image content or express your feelings - we have an astonishingly wide range of options for such a small set!

Anyway, I love the fact that the only pedestal we use officially is the "Nomination" feature. I for one am wary of people who feel the really need attention and/or praise - personally, I'll give both much more willingly and freely to people who don't demand (or even expect) any. It's more rewarding for both parties this way, too. It's not as if we never acknowledge great images through words, anyway - we just don't allow the words to take over in image threads.

M.

I like our reaction system as-is -- of course, it's also what I'm comfortable with. Be that as it may, I think when there's a mix of images that really speak to you, along with some that don't, that's a great time for a comment (with a quote if it's needed to keep things from getting confused) elaborating on how you feel. I see a lot of images here which impress and delight me, but of which the qualities are fairly straightforward.

Honestly I do the same.

It's one of the reasons I rarely post multiple images, unless they are related or of the same object.

I like the rating system though!

I disagree. I use the reaction system as a way of interacting when very little else need be said. If I want to say more, I'll comment. Without the reactions, I'd not have as much of an impact on here as I do. Sometimes I just want ot look at and respond to the pretty pictures that I like and honestly sometimes that's all I have time for. What I'm not a fan of is when sites don't allow for a negative feedback or that others (Looking at you Reddit) that have a right hissy fit when you downvote something you don't agree with. I recently started participating over there and downvotes a few things that were 100% incorrect and I got blasted in the thread and in DM from people calling me everything but human because I downvoted a post of theirs. Full transparency, I also commented...but they explicitly pointed out the downvote as the reason they wanted me tortured and dead (not exaggerating). It's rather a cesspool over there and I don't think I'll be there much longer...but I digress...

I'm a rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it kind of person. If its there and you want to use it, good...if not you can abstain.

Also, I like to see what others think and not have to read through, sometimes, hundreds of replies. The reaction icons are a good summary of the insights into others.

It looks like there is no simple solution and members will have to decide themselves on what to do. I like to acknowledge what I consider to be a good image. I just find it difficult to like etc a whole post where maybe I consider only one or two are good , out of several images.
I may try what John has suggests - "Quote the whole post, then delete the photos you don't like. Comment on the others, as appropriate." But I think I'll only do this to images that I think are exceptional.

Very much how I approach it as well. Nice explanation, John.

Just say something like #4 is excellent and leave out commenting on the rest
