What I was amazed to hear was that his son emigrated to the USA with his widowed mother as a young child and had no idea about how hugely famous and revered his father was in England until when he was in his late teens.
 
Yes.
He was killed in 1977 when the mini he was being driven in hit a tree less the a mile from his home. He was just short of his 30th birthday.
 
His and Bowies records are the sounds of my teenage years. Along with The Stones, Bad Company, Ace, 10cc, Cockney Rebel, Alex Harvey, and etc.
For a laugh at parties we also listened to Slade :big grin: Sweet, Garry Glitter, Suzy Quatro, Mud lol, etc.
