One of my favourite trees, a seriously old apple tree, is literally falling to pieces. The big branch to the right fell during the first cold period this winter, the other one during the past week. A week ago, we had a couple of cold days (-12° C), three days later, the temperature shot up by more than 25° C, then went back down again by at around 10° C over the last two days. Not a good time to be a tree ...
