I’m happy to report that my new G9 is back from hospital after being repaired and all appears to be tickety boo! The engineers report informs me that the SD card door assembly and the rear grip have been replaced! Pleasingly the camera looks like new. And none of my settings has been altered.

Now I have to learn to use all over again, not a problem I’m sure it will be a pleasant journey.

That would be just mean to reset the settings to fix some loose rubber and a little door. “It’s just our policy to reset all cameras that we touch”. :laugh1:

One conclusion I’ve made is that the G9 is really a small camera but with a big grip, so that it appears to be a big beasty, it is I find very comfortable to hold.
It certainly would have been mean spirited to do a reset, but they didn’t.

Good on you and considerate by them. Nikon does the reset. Every single time they touch the camera. Thankfully, they also offer a menu item to "Save Settings" to card ... But I only found that out after the first instance.

Enjoy your camera! :)
